Our History
We’re approaching our 50th anniversary as a church, and we believe God is writing a story here of His grace that we pray endures till He returns.
We started worship here in 1977 as a church plant of the 2nd RP Church of Indianapolis. Our first worship location was a member’s home for 6 years, and then we moved to a dentist’s office. These humble beginnings remind us that from the start, the vision has not been about an outward show. Instead, we were planted with a vision for discipleship of believers, and for the kingdom of God to be lifted up in the city of Columbus.
After the dental office came a location on Chestnut Street, before we came to our beautiful property off 31 on the south side of Columbus.
Jerry O’Neill served as our first pastor from 1981-1994, when he left to serve as the president of the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Since then, the church has been blessed by the pastoral care of Andrew Schep (1995-2004), Andrew McCracken (2004-2020), and George Gregory (2012-2016) before our current pastor Joel Hart (2021-present).
The church’s history is largely told through the stories of God’s care through families and individuals coming to Christ, finding a home here, and being enfolded in our church life week after week. That means it’s a story of sin, the glory of God, grace, redemption, hope, and joy in the Lord. And we’d love to have you join in that story, for as long as God would have you with us.
